Frank C. Prokop Square

Frank C. Prokop (1890-1918) served as a private in Company K of the 316th Infantry Regiment, 79th Division in the United States Army, with which he fought and was killed in World War I.

Born June 28, 1890 in Newark, New Jersey, and lived at 815 Buchman Avenue in Ridgewood. Prokop joined the service from Brooklyn, New York and left for Europe from Hoboken, New Jersey aboard the ship Agamemnon on July 9, 1918. He died on November 4, 1918 in Romagne-Sous-Mont Faucon, France, and is buried at the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial in Lorraine, France.

This memorial was created by Glendale Post 34 of the Catholic War Veterans (which is no longer active) in 1945. It is located near Prokop's home on Buchman Avenue, which is now known as 60th Lane.
