John E. Kilpatrick (1964–2024) served for 20 years with the NYPD, based out of the 115th Precinct in Whitestone, Queens. Following the September 11 attacks, he was assigned to search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site. He died from a 9/11-related illness.
