Irving Goldstein (1938-2000) graduated from Queens College in 1960. A strong supporter of the College, he served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Queens College Foundation from 1987 to 1991, and then held the title of Chairman Emeritus. He wore many hats in the communications industry: serving on the Board of Directors of IDT Corporation, acting as CEO of INTELSAT (a commercial consortium of over 140 countries that owns and operates a global satellite system), and finally, holding the positions of Chairman and CEO of the Communications Satellite Corporation.

Susan Wallack Goldstein (1940-2022) also graduated from Queens College in 1962. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. and taught fifth grade in Northern Virginia. In mid-life, Susan decided to pursue an acting career, taking on roles in plays and cabaret shows in both Washington D.C. and New York City.

Susan and Irving had two daughters and resided together in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The Goldstein Theatre is located on the Queens College campus.
